Your Gifts Matter

Stewarding what you've been given.

You were given specific gifts. Use them.

The big idea

Every Christian was given gifts. None of them were given just for you.

What does “Your Gifts Matter” walk through?

1

Use What You've Been Given

1 Peter 4:10 · KJV

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another.

In plain English

Whatever gift you've received, use it to serve others — that's the assignment.

2

What's Yours?

You have something the next person doesn't — a knack, an instinct, a skill, a way of seeing things. That's not luck. That's stewardship. The question isn't whether you have a gift. It's whether you're using it.

3

Different Gifts

Romans 12:6 · KJV

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us.

In plain English

We've been given different gifts — different graces — and we should use them accordingly.

“What you do well points to what you were made for.”

4

Don't Bury It

Jesus told a story about a guy who buried his talent. The owner was furious — not because the guy lost it, but because he didn't risk anything with it. Use what you have. Imperfectly is fine. Buried is not.

Pray

Father, what have you given me to use? Help me see it. Help me invest it. Don't let me bury what was meant to be shared.

Write it down

What are you good at that you've been afraid to use? Where could you put it to work this month?

You finished: Your Gifts Matter

You weren't given those gifts for fun. Use them. The world's better when you do.

Which passages does this journey use?

2 passages, drawn from 1 Peter 4:10, Romans 12:6. Every verse appears here in the King James text with a plain-English line beside it, so you can read it without a commentary open. Allow about 5 minutes for the whole thing, or 6 short sittings.

  • 1 Peter 4:10
  • Romans 12:6

Read any of these in full on the complete KJV, or look the wording up independently at Blue Letter Bible.
