Hear Him was created to help believers pause, reflect, and spend meaningful daily time in God’s Word. We believe a spiritual devotional practice must be completely private, free from invasive advertising, behavioral tracking, and data commodification.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
Across both our Apple iOS application and Google Chrome browser extension:
- We do not collect personal identifying information (no names, phone numbers, or physical addresses).
- We do not collect or monitor your web browsing history, search queries, or visited URLs.
- We do not collect biometric, health, or financial information.
- We do not use third-party analytics trackers, cookies, or advertising SDKs.
2. Chrome Extension Data & Local Storage
The Hear Him Chrome Extension operates 100% client-side. The extension requests the storage and alarms permissions exclusively to:
- Save your chosen background sacred artwork preference.
- Record your daily scripture reading streak count.
- Remember your toggle preference for the Gentle Focus Shield.
- Schedule the midnight rollover for the daily scripture of the day.
All preferences are stored strictly in your browser's private chrome.storage.local database on your computer. Nothing is ever sent to external cloud databases.
3. Apple iOS Screen Time & FamilyControls
On iOS, Hear Him utilizes Apple’s native FamilyControls and ManagedSettings Screen Time frameworks. This allows you to choose apps (like social feeds) to pause until you read your daily verse.
Apple’s Screen Time architecture is strictly private by design: third-party developers cannot see what you do inside shielded apps, your browsing history, or your screen usage analytics. All restriction policies are enforced entirely on your local iOS device by Apple's operating system.
4. Third-Party Sharing & Single Purpose Certification
In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store Developer Policies and Apple Developer Guidelines:
- We do not sell, rent, or transfer user data to third parties under any circumstances.
- We do not use user data for purposes unrelated to the item’s single purpose (providing daily scripture and focus).
- We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
