The iPhone app
Everything above, plus a lock on the apps that steal your morning.
The reading is free on this site and always will be. The app adds the part a website cannot do — it shields Instagram, TikTok and YouTube until you have actually read.
Sound familiar?
You meant to read this morning. Then you opened your phone.
The feed is designed to win that moment. Willpower isn’t a fair fight at 6:45am. HearHim moves the decision out of your hands: the reading comes first because the phone won’t let anything else come first.
Alarm off, feed open
The first minutes of the day go to whoever posted last night.
The Bible app stays closed
You have three of them. None of them get opened before Instagram.
Streaks that die by Thursday
Reminders are easy to swipe away. A locked phone is not.
How it works
Three steps. Two minutes to set up.
Pick the apps that pull you away
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, games, whatever it is for you. HearHim asks iOS to shield them.
Read until your goal is met
Open your phone and a verse meets you. Read for five minutes (or whatever goal you set) in plain English.
Your apps open. Your streak grows.
Hit the goal and everything unlocks for the day. Your companion sheep levels up alongside you.
A lock you can’t swipe away.
Reminders are suggestions. HearHim uses the same iOS system as parental controls, so when your apps are shielded, they’re shielded. Free users get a verse before every open; Premium holds the door shut until the goal is met.
- Choose any apps or whole categories
- Protected hours for mornings or bedtime (Premium)
- Always a verse, never a nag
KJV on top. What it means underneath.
Every verse comes with a one-line plain-English rendering, and every journey opens with a single Big Idea you can carry all day. Study by theme: grace, anxiety, rest, purpose, forgiveness.
- Full King James Bible
- Guided journeys of 8 short steps
- Save and reflect on any verse
A habit that rewards you instead of shaming you.
Read today and the streak grows. Miss a day and Premium streak freezes have your back. Your companion sheep earns outfits as you go, which sounds silly until you find yourself reading so it gets the halo.
- Daily goal you set yourself
- Streak freezes (Premium)
- Companion outfits to unlock
Settle in before the day starts.
A guided breath, a passage, a prayer. The devotional takes a few minutes and pairs with ambient audio like Still Waters and Breath of the Mountain if you want it. Scripture reminders land on your lock screen at the time you choose.
- Guided breathing to begin
- Ambient audio tracks
- Lock-screen scripture reminders

Questions
Before you download
Does it actually block my apps?
Yes. HearHim uses Apple’s Screen Time API, the same system parental controls use, so the block is enforced by iOS itself, not a pop-up you can swipe away. On the free plan a verse meets you before your apps open. On Premium your chosen apps stay shut until your daily reading goal is met.
Is it free?
Yes. The reader, plain-English verses, journeys, daily devotional, streaks and your companion sheep are free with no ads. Premium adds the hard lock, protected hours, the audio Bible and streak freezes for $3.99/month or $24.99/year, with a 3-day free trial.
How long do I have to read?
Your daily goal is 5 minutes by default and you can set it to whatever fits your morning. The moment you hit it, your apps open for the rest of the day.
Which Bible translation is it?
The King James Version, with a plain-English line under every verse so nothing gets lost in the thee’s and thou’s.
Does it work on Android?
Not yet. HearHim is built for iPhone and iPad on iOS 17 or later.
Tomorrow morning, read first.
Set it up tonight. It takes two minutes, and the phone handles the rest.
iOS 17 or later · Free to start · No ads · Premium optional
