Abide in Christ

The whole point.

What it means to stay close to Jesus.

The big idea

The Christian life isn't strategy. It's staying close.

What does “Abide in Christ” walk through?

1

I Am the Vine

John 15:5 · KJV

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

In plain English

Staying close to Jesus is how spiritual growth happens. Apart from him, lasting change is impossible.

2

The Branch's Job

A branch's job is not to make fruit. Its job is to stay attached. The fruit happens because of where it's connected. Same for you. Don't strain to produce fruit. Strain to stay close.

3

Abide in Me

John 15:7 · KJV

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

In plain English

Stay in me, and let my words live in you. Then ask what you want — it will be given.

“Bear fruit by abiding. Strain to abide. Let the fruit be his problem.”

4

How

Abiding is daily proximity. Pray. Read scripture. Sit quiet. Repent quickly. Talk to God like he's there because he is. Over weeks and months, you'll start to look different — not because you tried, but because you stayed close.

Pray

Jesus, help me abide. Not striving — just staying. Make me a branch that doesn't let go.

Write it down

What does abiding in Christ look like in your daily life right now? What would it look like in a deeper season?

You finished: Abide in Christ

Stay attached. The fruit grows on its own. Your job is the staying.
