Courage in the Fear

For the scared and faithful, same person.

Courage for hard days, fear, and uncertainty.

The big idea

Courage isn’t the absence of fear — it’s obedience in the middle of it.

What does “Courage in the Fear” walk through?

1

Don’t Be Afraid

Isaiah 41:10 · KJV

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

In plain English

God is with you, so you don’t have to be ruled by fear. He promises strength, help, and steady support.

2

Why He Says It

Notice: God doesn’t say “nothing scary is happening.” He says “I am with you.” That’s the courage-maker. You’re afraid because it’s real. He’s present because he’s real too.

3

What You Were Given

2 Timothy 1:7 · KJV

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

In plain English

God doesn’t lead you by fear. He gives strength, love, and steady thinking.

“Courage is fear that has said its prayers.”

4

A Refuge, Present

Psalm 46:1 · KJV

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

In plain English

God is a safe place when life is hard. He is not distant—he helps in the middle of trouble.

5

Cast It Over

1 Peter 5:7 · KJV

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

In plain English

Give your worries to God. He genuinely cares about what you’re carrying.

6

The Hundredth Morning

Sometimes courage isn’t one big leap. It’s the hundredth morning in a row when you got up and did the hard thing again.

7

Don’t Let It Rule

John 14:27 · KJV

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

In plain English

Jesus offers a deeper peace than circumstances can give. You can face fear without being controlled by it.

Pray

Lord, when I feel small, remind me you have been fighting my battles long before I knew there was a war.

Write it down

What’s the thing you’re most afraid of right now? What would courage look like for you this week?

You finished: Courage in the Fear

Sometimes courage isn’t one big leap. It’s the hundredth morning in a row when you got up and did the hard thing again. Keep getting up. You’re braver than you feel.
