Made in His Image

What it means to be human.

You bear the imprint of the God who made you.

The big idea

Every human you meet — yourself included — is stamped with the image of God.

What does “Made in His Image” walk through?

1

In His Image

Genesis 1:27 · KJV

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

In plain English

God made humans in his image. His likeness is in every one of us.

2

Stamped

You're not a cosmic accident. You bear the imprint of the God who made everything. So does the difficult coworker, the political opponent, the homeless guy on the corner. Every face is a copy of his. That changes how you treat people.

3

Wonderfully Made

Psalm 139:14 · KJV

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works.

In plain English

I'll praise you — I'm wonderfully made. Your work is incredible.

“There are no ordinary people. You have never met a mere mortal.”

4

Practical

If every person bears God's image, then how you treat the lowest-status person in any room is a measure of your faith. They reflect God too. Treat them like it.

Pray

Lord, help me see your image in every face today — including the difficult ones, including my own.

Write it down

Who in your life have you been treating as 'less'? What would change if you saw God's image in them?

You finished: Made in His Image

You and every person you meet bear his fingerprint. Live like it.

  • Genesis 1:27
  • Psalm 139:14

Read any of these in full on the complete KJV, or look the wording up independently at Blue Letter Bible.
